Armed with a commerce degree and a sharp business acumen, he set out to build his dream empire. At 49, Bagla’s energy and passion were infectious, driving the Saltee Group to new heights. His secret? Sticking to ethics, fair play, and punctuality. And it paid off!

Meet The Man Himself

Sri Surya Prakash Bagla, born on 20th April 1965 in Kolkata, was a commerce graduate with Indian nationality. He hailed from a traditional business family in Bissau, Rajasthan. His father, Lt. Shree Gopal Bagla, laid the foundation for the family's timber merchant business. Surya Prakash Bagla has two elder brothers, Shri Ramesh Kumar Bagla and Shri Rajesh Kumar Bagla, a younger brother, Shree Prakash Bagla, and an elder sister, Smt. Shilpa Goenka.

With a natural flair for business and a commerce degree, he pursued his dreams as a first-generation entrepreneur, founding the Saltee Group at a young age. His commitment to honesty and ethical practices had been instrumental in the group's success, leading to the completion of several notable projects in Salt Lake and North Kolkata. As Chairman of Saltee Group, Bagla had spearheaded world-class construction projects, including luxury residential complexes and prime commercial properties. His notable ventures include “Haveli,” an ethnic vegetarian restaurant that has won multiple Times Food Awards, and "Minus 6 Degrees," an innovative ice lounge in Kolkata.

Despite his busy schedule, Surya Prakash Bagla remained dedicated to social and philanthropic causes. He had been actively involved with various organizations such as the All India Marwari Federation, All India Vaish Federation, Bidhannagar Bikash Manch, Bidhannagar Horticulture Society, and many more. His leadership extended to multiple social and cultural organizations, reflecting his commitment to community service.

Social and Philanthropic Contributions

Bagla's passion for community service is evident through his involvement in numerous social and philanthropic activities.

  • He had organized cancer awareness camps in collaboration with Global Cancer Trust and distributed clothes to the poor with Bharat Seva Sangh.

  • His efforts in flood relief, organizing children's book fairs, free eye camps, and 'Saradiya Samman' events showcase his dedication to social welfare.

  • Additionally, Bagla supported the elderly through 'Saanjh Baati' events with the West Bengal Police and promoted health through free yoga camps with Yog Guru Ramdevji Maharaj.

  • His sponsorship of young footballers in partnership with the Bidhannagar Football Academy underscores his commitment to nurturing talent and promoting sports.
